Huge Potential Opportunities for Trained Locksmiths in Wales

Burglary and vehicle crime remain constant concerns in Wales, with residents and businesses seeking effective security measures to protect their properties.
With a population of over 3.1 million people, Wales is a fantastic place to live. The beauty of Wales’s geography stands out from a distance; trips around the countryside are always a joy. Across the many rural towns and larger cities of Wales, stylish architecture and brilliant places to live remain abundant. Like any other part of the UK, though, staying safe remains a common topic of discussion.
A rise in specific types of crime in Wales has remained consistent across recent years. According to key statistics on the matter, issues such as criminal damage and arson (26,150), vehicle crimes (11,500) and burglary (9,000) remain common problems. Other forms of theft, such as bike theft (2,300) and robbery (1,125), continue to be problems of valid concern. As such, there is growing interest across Wales for people looking to move into professions that provide security protection.
Locksmiths are a common profession choice in Wales, with more Welsh citizens looking to tackle rising crime for a living. Trained locksmiths provide a vital service in protecting people, minimising the risk of being victims of vandalism, and improving the quality of life enjoyed by all.
Residential locksmiths are involved in services like fitting and fixing high-security home lock mechanisms. They might also be engaged in replacing broken locks and providing emergency access for locked-out citizens. Commercial locksmiths, meanwhile, deal with issues such as the development of advanced locking mechanisms to protect offices and storefronts. Others fit access control systems or develop master key programs for staff to have more streamlined access.
Being a locksmith is a highly enjoyable profession that provides a versatile and well-paying career path in Wales. As security becomes a more prominent topic, home and business owners become more aware of the value of having a locksmith on call. Thanks to the rise of high-tech security systems, locksmiths can move into new areas on a regular basis as the security industry diversifies further.
If you are looking to move into a stable and reliable career path, becoming a locksmith in Wales could be just right for you. Learn your craft through MPL Locksmith & Security Training and make sure your future in the profession is as bright as possible.

Connect Housing
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Nicky England and MPL for the fantastic service they provided for locksmith training. At each step of the process they were courteous and very well organised. I sent 5 of my technicians on the 3 day course and it has proven to be not only an enhancement of my teams skills but also a huge saving by being able to gain entry to our housing stock non destructively.
I would recommend MPL to any other customer and give their service delivery and training methods 10/10.
Bill
Ashton Pioneer Homes

I sent two of my operatives to MPL for locksmith training. The training was excellent and they have been able to put this in to good use. It has shortened the time taken for evictions and helped us portray a more professional image in front of bailiffs and other staff.
I would highly recommend them for training and for purchasing the right tools.

Relaxing in Wales when not Locksmithing
Being a locksmith in Wales is a demanding and skill-intensive job that requires patience, accuracy, and often long, unsociable working hours. The daily challenges can make it easy to overlook the importance of stepping back to relax and refresh. Taking time to unwind with family and friends is essential for maintaining well-being and managing those daily stresses. Here are some excellent ways to relax in Wales.

From its incredible number of castles to its geographical and cultural uniqueness, Wales is a special place to live and work as a locksmith. If you are looking for things to do in Wales when relaxing from a busy week, we recommend making time for some of these must-see activities:
- Snowdonia National Park
Don’t be fooled by the name, Snowdonia is far more than just a park: it’s covers over 800 miles of breathtaking landscapes, and a place where people, live, work and play. Home to Mount Snowdon, the tallest mountain in Wales, as well as other, gentler inclines, Snowdonia offers the perfect blend of activities for a busy break.
- Great Orme
Not only jaw droppingly gorgeous, this limestone headland in Llandudno is a mini-mountain, given the name ‘sea monster‘ by the Vikings! Sit back and enjoy the views, alternatively hop on a cable car or take a ride on the tram to reach the top of this 350 million-year-old beauty spot to explore the local archaeology and history. Those with a sense of adventure may want to explore the Great Orme Mines, a network of Bronze Age tunnels deep underground and rich in fascinating history.
- National Waterfront Museum
For a dive into the Welsh industrial history, head to the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea. The centrepiece of the city’s Maritime Quarter, this hi-tech museum celebrates the mining, metal-working and transport technologies that changed the face of Wales, without forgetting the very human stories behind all that dazzling innovation.
- Conwy
Conwy is a picturesque little market town, surrounded on all sides by the imposing walls of Conwy Castle. The ancient fortified walls feature 21 towers are offer brilliant views over the town and the nearby River Conwy.
- Gower Peninsula
Only a short drive from the Welsh city of Swansea, the Gower Peninsula was the first place in the UK to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. Also known since the Victorian era as ‘The Mumbles’, it is scattered with remnants of the past; ancient churches and prehistoric rock formations waiting to be discovered.
- Big Pit National Coal Museum
Go deeper (literally) into the industrial heritage of Wales at Big Pit National Coal Museum. Big Pit is a living, breathing tribute to the coal industry and the society it created. The highlight is the underground tour, where you’ll travel 90m below the earth to explore the workings of this former coal mine.
- Cardiff Bay
Located in the heart of Cardiff, the Welsh capital, Cardiff Bay is Europe’s largest waterfront development. There’s so much to see and and do for all the family. Boasting many playgrounds for the kids and leisurely boat trips, or a museum visit, then by night, dine out in one of the many top restaurants serving international cuisine, before hitting some of the city’s premier night spots.
The above barely scratches the surface of what Wales has to offer as a country. To get started, add the above to your list of activities; you will find many related activities in the nearby vicinity, too!

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to train as a locksmith?
After your initial 3 or 5-Day training, it can usually take a further 12 months to become an experienced locksmith. You will always be learning on the job, and have to keep up to date with the latest products and industry related regulations such as lock standards.
The easiest way to begin your new locksmithing career is by attending our comprehensive 3 or 5-Day Locksmith Course which is perfect for beginners who are looking to learn how to become a locksmith within one week. Many of our students have gone on to set up their own locksmithing businesses immediately after completing the course.
I am new to locksmithing, do I need any qualifications to train as a locksmith?
Whilst you don’t need any qualifications to train, you need a desire and a commitment to learn. It always helps if you come from a manual job or background and that you’re used to working with the tools you’ll need.
What course should I take if I'm a complete beginner to locksmithing?
If you are new to locksmithing and aren’t familiar with the tools and manual work, we suggest you undertake our comprehensive 5 day City & Guilds/NCFE Specialist Courses as this will provide you extra time and any additional help you may need.
How much does locksmith training cost?
Our courses vary in price subject to course detail and training days required. Please to call us on 01924 693293 with any questions on the latest prices and availability or fill in our enquiry form.
Are your Accreditations and Certificates recognised?
We are the UK’s ONLY provider of officially Accredited City & Guilds and NCFE Certified locksmith courses. Our accreditations recognise the high standards, process and delivery of bespoke training programmes which no other provider in the UK can offer.
In addition, we also run a range of courses which upon completion students receive our MPL certificate, which because we are the largest training provider in the UK is recognised throughout the industry as the gold standard.
Do I have to be a member of any trade organisations?
No, these organisations tend to be private Ltd companies who are attempting to charge for membership. It is not compulsory to be a member; at the time of writing there are no governing bodies in this industry in the UK.

Why not take advantage of our Competitive Finance Packages?
Looking to attend one of our courses? We can help to make it financially viable, with one of our highly competitive, tailored finance packages.
