Our Specialist Auto Locksmith Training Course, which is fully City & Guilds accredited, is one of many locksmith training courses we offer here at MPL Locksmith Training. It’s an intensive, rewarding, and specialist training course for locksmiths (old and new) looking to equip themselves with expert knowledge in a growing field.
There are few aspects of locksmithing that we can’t teach, and our experienced instructors have been in the industry long enough to lead professional training courses on a huge range of locksmith topics.
One of the growing fields within the industry is auto locksmith training. As the market continues to develop, locks continue to incorporate digital technology and become more technically advanced. Auto locks are here to stay, and by learning about the trade now, you’re making a wise decision to futureproof your career.
We always take time to ensure we’re teaching the latest technologies, keeping up-to-date with current working practice, and working with modern tools. Our team does everything possible to prepare you for a long and successful career when you start receiving callouts.
Is auto locksmithing a good fit for you? Maybe you’ve seen colleagues expand their skill set and increase their workload, and it’s time for you to do the same? Or maybe you’re a young locksmith new to the industry, looking to specialise in auto locksmithing from the beginning?
Auto locksmithing is suitable for everyone – here’s why.
Who is Our Specialist Auto Locksmith Course Designed For?
Every type of locksmith or locksmith student will benefit from our Specialist Auto Locksmith Training course. It’s an inclusive and practical course that will prove to be a worthy investment, no matter what stage you find yourself in your career.
In particular, the course is suited to existing locksmiths that want to expand their skill set. Our lessons help you diversify from the competition and grow your business in a newer, less crowded area.
But that’s not all. Apprentices and locksmith students new to the industry won’t regret learning about auto locksmithing early in their career. Even for established auto locksmiths, our course will help refresh your knowledge and bring your understanding up-to-date with modern auto locksmithing.
What Does the Course Cover?
Under the guidance of our experienced MPL Locksmith team, we certainly don’t keep you in a classroom for three days. While the theory is important, it’s also important to get your hands dirty and take in some visual examples of classic auto locksmith scenarios.
It goes without saying that you’ll learn all about entry techniques and how to gain access to locked vehicles. But on top of that, you’ll learn about the electronics behind auto locks, their inner workings, how to strip down, identify, service, repair, rebuild, and re-key vehicle locking mechanisms.
But don’t worry – we’re not trying to turn you into programmers! This course doesn’t cover key-cutting or programming at any stage.
Nonetheless, you’ll still learn everything you need to know. You’ll be able to pick a lock on a Ford, Kia, Hyundai, or even a Mercedes, as well as countless others. More specifically, you’ll have the ability to re-key laser locks and replace broken electronic locks. Again, no programming is necessary.
By the time you graduate from our course, you’ll be able to gain access to 95% of the vehicles you’re called out to – we’ll cover most of the manufacturers you can expect to find on British roads. That includes models released in the last year, and models released 20 years ago.
Finally, you’ll learn some of the softer skills involved with becoming an auto locksmith. We teach you how to handle customer requests, how to deal with a vehicle call out, and all of the information you need to obtain from the customer before you begin the job. This essential business knowledge gives you everything you need to succeed.
Which Tools Will You Use?
Auto locksmithing is unique, and that means that the tools are as well. You’re unlikely to use many of the tools on any other type of job, and we make sure that you’re fully trained on how to use them.
Over three days, you’ll get practical experience with the following tools:
- LISHI picks
- Mr Li picks
- Air Bags
- Long Reach Tools
After all, these are the tools you’ll soon be using on a daily basis. Our course intends to give you the experience, ability, and knowledge to get straight to work.
Will You Be Able to Work on Any Vehicle?
Not quite! But we make sure that, once you’re accredited, you’ll be able to take on almost every type of job. That includes callouts on many of the most common makes of vehicle in the UK.
On our Specialist Auto Locksmith Training Course, the following manufacturers have specific modules dedicated to them alone:
- Vauxhall
- Ford
- Mercedes
- Hyundai
- Kia
But you’ll still cover plenty of other makes far beyond the ones listed above.
Quality Training and Recognised Accreditation
There are few auto locksmithing courses that have achieved the City & Guilds accreditation – and ours is one of them.
On graduation, City & Guilds offer an accreditation that’s recognised around the world, and is even backed by a Royal Charter. The standards, protocols, and teaching quality required to achieve City & Guilds accreditation is very high, and we’re proud to be one of only a few UK training centres that have achieved it.
The City & Guilds accreditation confirms that you’re receiving top-quality instruction from an experienced and knowledgeable team. With our patient and informed approach, you’ll quickly develop all the skills you need for a long and successful auto locksmithing career.
