Our 16 module course will cover all aspects of uPVC repairs and common problems associated with tilt / turn mechanisms through to health and safety. Our highly skilled tutors will discuss uPVC access and repair techniques along with different window types, as well as a student, role-play activity to identify problems as well as repairing faults. How long does it take to become a locksmith?
There is no set time for how long it takes to become a locksmith. Most locksmiths take around 23 months to become truly established and successful, and this is after taking a five-day training course. As a locksmith, you will find that you are always learning on the job, and always needing to keep up with the latest technologies and services.
The most popular and quickest way to become a locksmith is by attending a beginner’s course where you can learn all the core skills to get you up and running quickly. We run a five-day locksmith specialist course perfect for beginners. After a week of learning, a lot of our students set up their own businesses immediately, gaining experience from completing small jobs before working their way up to larger, more profitable, projects.
I am new to locksmithing, do I need any qualifications to train as a locksmith?
Though our students do not need any prior qualifications to train at MPL, we do require you to have a desire and commitment to learn. It also helps if you come from a manual job or background and are well versed on working with the tools that you will require.
What course should I take if I'm a complete beginner to locksmithing?
If you are new to locksmithing and aren’t familiar with the tools and manual work, we suggest you undertake our comprehensive 5 day City & Guilds/NCFE Specialist Courses as this will provide you extra time and any additional help you may need.
How much does locksmith training cost?

Are your Accreditations and Certificates recognised?
We are the UK’s ONLY provider of officially Accredited City & Guilds and NCFE Certified locksmith courses. Our accreditations recognise the high standards, process and delivery of bespoke training programmes which no other provider in the UK can offer.
In addition, we also run a range of courses which upon completion students receive our MPL certificate, which because we are the largest training provider in the UK is recognised throughout the industry as the gold standard.
Do I have to be a member of any trade organisations?
No, this is not required. Locksmithing organisations are usually private ltd companies who attempt to charge for membership. It is not compulsory to be a member, and as of the time of writing there are no governing bodies in the UK.
