Who are MPL Locksmith Training?
MPL Locksmiths (Training) Ltd are a training organisation that supply goods and services to businesses and individuals. The website www.mpl-locksmith-training.co.uk, or any other website owned or operated by us (the “Website”) is owned and operated by MPL Locksmiths (Training) Ltd and the expressions “MPL”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean MPL Locksmiths (Training) Ltd a limited company registered in England under company number 10878112 whose registered office is at Unit 1 Thornes Office Park, Monckton Road, Wakefield, WF2 7AN.
We take the privacy of our clients seriously. In this Privacy Policy, we’ve provided lots of detailed information on when and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, the limited conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.

What we need
MPL Locksmiths (Training) Ltd will be what’s known as the ‘Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us.
If you are just enquiring about a course with us, we collect:

- Email address
- Telephone number
- Address (if you require a printed prospectus to be sent by post)
If you are booking a course with us, we collect:
- Full name
- Company (if applicable)
- Date of birth
- Address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Your current employment (so we can tailor our course accordingly)
- Information on any disabilities or special requirements
- A passport photo
- A yes or no answer as to whether you have any criminal convictions that may affect your eligibility to attend one of our courses
We also record telephone calls. We will always obtain your consent before recording a telephone call; recording is necessary in order to fulfill a contract.

Your information has been obtained by direct dealings with us.
What is our legal basis for processing your information?
After the 25th May 2018 we will always hold recent, clear, explicit and defined consent for your data to be processed for a specific purpose. For information that we have processed before this date our legal basis is “Legitimate Interests”. If you are just enquiring about a course with us …
We need to know your basic personal data in order to provide you with information about the most appropriate courses and their availability. We will not collect any personal data from you we do not need in order to provide our services to you.
If you are booking a course with us …
We need to know your personal data so that we can register you as a student with us, and tailor our training course(s) appropriately to your needs. We also need to collect certain data to allow us to provide certification with the relevant awarding bodies after successful completion of one of our courses. We will not collect any personal data from you we do not need in order to provide our services to you.
What we do with it
All of the personal data we process is processed by our staff in the UK however for the purposes of IT hosting and maintenance this information is located on servers within the UK.
No 3rd parties have access to your personal data unless the law allows them to do so with the exception of awarding bodies (City & Guilds, NCFE, GQA) who are required to access basic information in order to provide relevant certification.
We have a Data Protection regime in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data. All of our employees are subject to obligations of confidentiality regarding information which they have access to in the course of their employment including the personal information of customers. All personal information is held in secure computer storage facilities and paper-based files located in a secure facility. We take steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
How long we keep it
If you are just enquiring about a course with us …
- We retain your personal data so that we are able to inform you of our latest availability and offers that fit your requirements. We will keep your basic personal data for a period of 1 year or until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information, after which time it will be destroyed.
If you are booking or attending a course with us …
- We are required to keep your basic personal data for the lifetime of the business. This allow us to maintain your data on our training register so that certification and verification can be re-issued at a later date if required. We will retain any completed exam papers for a period of 12 months after successful course completion for verification and moderation purposes.
Your information we use for marketing purposes will be kept with us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.
Whilst we do not store any sensitive payment information (including card or bank details), we are required to keep financial records for a period of 5 years for the purposes of accounting.
What are your rights?
If at any point you believe the information we process on you is incorrect you can request to see this information and even have it corrected or deleted. If you wish to raise a complaint on how we have handled your personal data, you can contact us and we will investigate the matter.
You have the right to object. If you want us to cease using your personal data, then you can let us know by emailing us at [email protected] or by clicking unsubscribe on any of our direct marketing emails. Please note that this may affect the ability for us to provide our goods and services to you.
You have the right to restrict processing. If MPL dispute that the information held is inaccurate and we need a little more time to verify it – you have the right to restrict the processing of your information until this is done.
You have the right to move your data. Data portability allows you to request your data for you to be able to move it elsewhere. We will respond within 1 month of receiving your request when you contact us in writing by email or post.

I did the 5 day City & Guilds locksmith course at MPL in January. I went from knowing hardly anything to being able to set up my own operation and it's been going well ever since.
The class sizec as small so you got plenty of one on one time with the tutors, the ladies who sort all the admin and enquiries were very friendly and excellent at what they do getting all your certificates and start up tools organised.
The lunch provided each day was great too.
Overall I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course or MPL as a training company.

I booked 2 weeks ago and paid the 20% to secure a place in February 2026 for the locksmith 5 day course. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I got made redundant from my role, as you can imagine, with a small family I was panicking. I wasn't accepted for their repayment plan so I was founding this course on my own. When I contacted Jackie to explain this the only option I was given was to rebook a different date rather than cancel. I expressed I can not do that as now I don't know when I will be employed again to then make sure I get the money together for the course. They did offer me a 30% refund however, I gave more than enough notice 5 months and that is all they could offer. My wife then called to explain our circumstances to see if there was anything more they could do. Due to my mental health I am really struggling to have the energy to deal with all this as I am the person in our household to pay our bills. I understand that I wouldn't be able to get all my money back but atleast a little more due to the amount of time given as notice and for my circumstances. Jackie said she was the decision maker on this and 30% was more than enough. She was not empathetic towards my wife and our circumstances. All I will say is, if you book in this course and anything outside of your power goes wrong e.g. lose your job or a family emergency, they will not have any empathy and give hardly any compensation back for the hard earned money you have paid them. It's such a shame as there reviews is what made me want to book with them. Clearly I was mistaken. In the current economic climate they are just another company wanting your money and keeping it for doing the bare minimum. Even with holidays if you give enough notice you get compensated refunds depending on the notice period. Such a shame

This company demonstrates blatant racism in their hiring practices. I applied and spoke with a customer service representative about my situation, which includes a criminal record from 13 years ago. Despite the fact that they should only be looking at basic background checks, they refused my entry into the course solely based on my past. I complied with all their requirements and was willing to pay for the course, yet they canceled my enrollment. Their actions are unjust and discriminatory. I do not recommend this company because of the racism.

I phoned the center to get a little more info regarding booking dates etc and they couldn't of been any more helpful at all. Even after my call I didn't get any unwanted phone calls to hassle me to enrolling.
My training course began on 16th June '25' & from the get go it was just an brilliant experience. Every task you do is explained very clearly of how to tackle that task. Any guidance you require is there instantly, every question is answered so you understand it completely.

I really enjoyed the 5-day locksmithing course. I travelled from Barcelona, Spain to attend, and the staff went out of their way to make my stay as smooth and comfortable as possible. The food provided was much better than I expected, and the hands-on approach was fantastic — we got to work with a wide variety of locks throughout the course.
Marc was a great instructor. He clearly demonstrated each method, guided us through the process, and then gave us the chance to try everything on our own. It was a perfect balance of instruction and independent practice.

I attended the locksmith course and could not be any happier with the experience I had, the staff were lovely and could not do enough to meet your requirements.
Marc the trainer was a top bloke who is clearly very knowledgeable within the locksmith and facade trade, he is game for a laugh and made me feel very comfortable and welcome. I could not recommend this course enough thank you all for the wonderful experience 👍

Marc the trainer was a top bloke who is clearly very knowledgeable within the locksmith and facade trade, he is game for a laugh and made me feel very comfortable and welcome. I could not recommend this course enough thank you all for the wonderful experience 👍

Id like to firstly thank the staff for making me feel welcome, they couldn't do enough for you. My trainer, Mark, was obviously a very skilled locksmith and delivered the training in a fun and informative manner. I feel like I will mirror these skills on a weekly basis. Attended for the 5 day City & Guilds course last month. I had no prior experience or knowledge of locks or locksmithing but after doing this course I feel confident to go out and do it for real. The one to one training was faultless and everything was explained thoroughly. It exceeded all my expectations. I gained my qualifications for a change of career and am so grateful. Would recommend to anyone. Office staff are friendly and very helpful with booking and arrangements. Great experience all round.
