Newly qualified locksmith Joanne McCrystal from Kent has turned her hands to some interesting jobs over the years.
It was very much a case of ‘hands on deck’ during a 10-year stint in the Royal Navy for Jo-Anne who hails originally from Hertfordshire but now, after undergoing locksmith training with MPL, she’s got her hand in with a whole new career and business venture as JMB Locksmiths operating around the Sevenoaks area.
She took up the story: “I joined the Royal Navy after leaving school and had some amazing experiences. It took me all around the world. I served on 4 ships including the aircraft carrier HMS Invincible.
“I then left and moved to Kent where I worked with a railway company but I’d always enjoyed working with my hands and decided to look into locksmith courses. It’s a very practical skill to have and will always be in demand. It allowed me to set up on my own and take control of my life.
“I looked at courses in my area but none offered the peace of mind of having City & Guilds accreditation. The MPL courses offered that.
“I knew nothing about how to pick a lot but, from day one, we were picking locks. The atmosphere on the courses is very relaxed and very nurturing with friendly trainers on hand should you face issues.
“I’d wholeheartedly recommend MPL when it comes to learning the skills of the locksmith trade,” concluded Jo-Anne.
Former Armed Forces personnel can take advantage of a scheme that funds re-training courses including those offered by MPL.
