Whether you’re just starting out in the locksmith industry or have been in it for years, it’s probably important for you to have a steady stream of new customers. Below are just a few areas that you could consider advertising in, to help in your quest to get new clients.

1. Social Media
Social media is a great way to get your business in front of people. There are multiple social platforms available and facebook is probably the obvious platform to be used, however we would also recommend using others such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus. LinkedIn can be a great network for trying to improve your b2b customer base, such as estate agents and housing associations.
When starting it may be that you need to invest in a paid campaign whilst you build up your audience. This will help get your business in front of the right people, especially with most social media platforms allowing you to target people based on interests and demographics.
2. Search Engines
Search engines are becoming, if not already, the first port of call for most people’s problems and therefore likely to be the place they go if they are in need of locksmith services. Ensuring that you have visibility in your local area for these is essential. One way to do this is to make sure that you have a Google My Business account set up for your business. We would also recommend asking your customers to leave reviews as this can help improve the visibility of your listing as well as making your business look more appealing.
3. Print Directories
You’ll probably have a local directory in your area, so why not utilise it? These directories list companies for different services from all industries and are usually distributed via post. The good thing about these directories are that they are localised so will only reach people in your target market.
At MPL Locksmith Training we’ve found that this is a proven marketing option and one that usually comes at a reasonable monthly cost. We would however recommend that you check the amount of locksmiths currently in a directory. If there are more than 3 locksmiths advertising we would advise against advertising in that particular directory.
4. Word of mouth
Another great way to get new business is via word of mouth, and it’s free! All you have to do is provide a great service to your current customers and they will do the rest. If you’re current customer base is happy and knows someone who needs your service they’ll be happy to recommend you.
